Igreja do Carmo
The first Instagram spot in Porto is Igreja do Carmo, a combination of 2 churches, which are separated by a tiny house of 1 m in width. The religious rule was that churches always needed to be built separately. Both churches were built in the 17th century, but with a totally different style. When you stand in front of the Igreja do Carmo you can see a sober and robust look on the left side. But the church on the right has a much more outgoing look in the Rococo building style.
Besides this fun fact, the most remarkable thing about this church complex is the Azulejo tile painting by the Artist Silvestro Silvestri on the side of the building. Hello, perfect Instagram spot!

Parque da Quinta da Macieirinha
One of the best Instagram spots for sunset photos is Parque da Quinta da Macieirinha. This is a beautiful green park located a little outside the old center of Porto. The view from this park is astonishing because you look over the river Douro and you can see the Ponte da Arrábida bridge. The glistening of the water and the setting sun make this a wonderful place to enjoy the view and take some photos.

If you like street art, the wall of the Steak n Shake is the place to go. Here a colorful work of art has been made in the style of the Portuguese tiles. A mix of old traditional tiles with a new and refreshing twist to it.

Saint Lawrence Church
A very robust church is our next Instagram spot. The Saint Lawrence Church, also known as the cricket church, is on this list because it offers a great new perspective on Porto. When you stand on the stairs beside the church you can peak through a gap between the church itself and a few houses. Here you’ll see the river, the boats and even the port warehouses. This place catches 2 flies with one … shot?! (Woops that was a very bad joke haha;))

Largo da Pena Ventosa
Some people refer to the Largo da Pena Ventosa as the rainbow square. And the reason for that is the cute colorful houses. This little square has a bit of a hidden feel to it when you walk towards it. But when you are there, it’s a feast for the eyes. This location is very close to the Saint Lawrence Church, so it would be great to combine these two Instagram spots in Porto.

São Bento Station
In Porto, there is one iconic place you cannot miss: The São Bento Station. This is the most beautiful train station you are ever going to see in your life. So, it is definitely worth your time and makes for great Instagram spots in Porto.
The station was build at the end of the 19th century. All the walls of the entrance hall are covered with the Azulejo-tiles, telling stories about historical events regarding the military and trading. There are over 20.000 painted tiles in the São Bento Station. Which is insane! Imagine all the work that was put into every one of those tiles.
The São Bento Station gets crowded very quickly, so if you fully want to enjoy this place I would advise you to go early in the morning.

Miradouro da Serra do Pilar
To top this Instagram-spot list off, I’ve listed another beautiful viewpoint: Miradouro da Serra do Pilar. This church is located on top of one of the highest spots in Porto and offers an incredible lookout point. You can see over both sides of the city, spot multiple bridges, and see the classic Port boats sail by over the river.
From the Louis I bridge, it is a short 10-minute walk up to the church. Both during the day and sunset, this spot is worth a visit.
